MADISON, Wis. The seven-day rolling average of new COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin has hit 1,000, according to the latest data from the state Department of Health Services.
While the average hasnt topped the surge of last fall, the emergence of the more contagious delta variant has put an end to the gradual decline seen in the first half of summer. Wisconsin has had a noticeable spike in new cases within the past month, as the seven-day average on July 5 was 60.
Health officials confirmed 1,573 new cases of the virus Thursday, which is the highest single-day total since Feb. 7.
