With 34 Republicans, Sen. Ron Johnson blocked a bipartisan commission to study the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
MADISON - Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson joined 34 other Republicans Friday in blocking a bipartisan commission proposed to study the riot at the U.S. Capitol in January.
................Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah and Ben Sasse of Nebraska joined Democrats in supporting the commission.
Baldwin said on Twitter that she was voting for the commission because "an attack on our Democracy demands truth and accountability."
Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., condemned Johnson's vote.
It is sad, but unfortunately predictable that Senator Ron Johnson would rather pretend an insurrection didnt happen than vote to understand why an armed group was able to break into the Capitol," Pocan said....................
