17. The CDC is indicating what science upholds.

People that are vaccinated are a dead end for the virus. Even if they get it (which over 98% of positive tests are from unvaccinated), they don't pass it on. So there is no need for the vaccinated to wear a mask. Whether they do or not is not going to change the progress.

20. If you are vaccinated, you are not a danger to others

and they aren't a danger to you.

Now, the problem is that people who aren't vaccinated are getting rid of the masks and they can spread it to others that aren't vaccinated. But, all indications are that as someone vaccinated, you are a dead end for the virus. You won't spread it.

If you think the all caps "DONE" is somehow convincing and overrides the science, you would be wrong. But, hey, if you want to wear a mask, have at it. I still do too for some weird reason I can't explain, honestly. But you don't need to based on what we know at this point.

I have not seen the science behind the "dead end" that you claim and have never heard immunologists or the CDC make such a claim. It makes no sense to me that if I'm one of the 2% who were vaccinated who catches COVID-19 anyway, that I could not pass that on. I'd love a link to studies that show such a thing.

Regardless of all the reasons to still wear a mask beyond vaccination, we don't have this thing quashed. There is a high probability for other variants to develop in other countries, if not here. I care for a 4mo baby and have a 9yo grandson who will be spending a month with me this summer. For them, I will be taking zero chances. Masks all around when we go out in public and no "dining in."

Before you get started, I thoroughly believe in science. I also believe there is still much we don't know in a virus that has only been around for 18 months and continues to evolve.

I'm fine with people wearing masks if that is what makes them feel better. But we have science telling us things. We need to act with confidence in that or we are no better than the "I don't believe I have to wear a mask even though the CDC tells me I should" crowd. That said, I haven't stopped wearing a mask at stores for some reason I have no clue about. So I get it. But I admit it's my own problem and not science.

Not getting sick for 18 months has been the biggest boon. Not needing to have conversations with people I know because they don't recognize me when I'm on a deadline. Not pissing people off with my resting bitch face. Etcetera.

The "safe" part is more or less painless, despite what some would have you believe. The "sorry" part is more painful than anyone wants to experience.

We have been living under some pretty strict conditions - what the Health Authority has been calling a "circuit breaker." Lots of whining from the Usual Suspects, but most people accept it with pretty good grace, and some people are enthusiastic.

We have dropped the "Active" case numbers in our zone of about 400,000 people from 270 to 34 in the last 2 months. That is a pretty good result.
