Related: About this forumGronick withdraws from the race for governor
Unexpected news from the Journal-Sentinel this morning:
His announcement comes a day after the release of a Marquette University Law School poll that revealed Gronik continued to struggle to make an impact with voters and had received just 4% support from Democratic voters polled.
Gronik is the first of 10 Democratic candidates with serious campaigns to drop out of the race ahead of an Aug. 14 primary. He was one of the first Democratic candidates to announce a bid to unseat Walker, and has spent a considerable amount of his own money to challenge the two-term governor.
This must have been a very sudden decision. I know he was at the Juneteenth celebration in Milwaukee yesterday with other candidates who were meeting voters--Kathleen Vinehout, Matt Flynn, and Mahlon Mitchell (possibly others).

(3,577 posts)She has first-hand experience in many aspects of Wisconsin government gleaned from twelve years as a senator, more than any of the others. All the candidates have the same basic positions on the important issues, so the critical issue is: who can beat Scott Walker? Vinehout has won three times in a district that went for Walker three times and also for Trump. She's a special kind of person who shows that she cares about people first, and in fact that's the motto of her campaign: "People First."

(1,736 posts)Are there questions about his performance as DPI administrator? He has run a large and important agency effectively, and it might be good in this cycle to nominate a non-controversial figure.
