............................................... Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin will open a campaign office Saturday not far from the city's Sherman Park neighborhood.
Baldwin will be accompanied by Democratic U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey for the office opening at 5040 W North Ave.
The move comes just days after Baldwin began television advertising in the Milwaukee and Green Bay markets, likely to be important battlegrounds in the fall.
Baldwin, in her first term, is expected to face a spirited re-election fight. State Sen. Leah Vukmir of Brookfield and Delafield businessman Kevin Nicholson are running for the Republican Party nomination.

Baldwin's campaign team is trying to reverse the turnout slump that hit Democrats in Milwaukee during the 2016 presidential race. In 2016, Hillary Clinton received about 43,000 fewer votes in Milwaukee County than Barack Obama did in 2012.
Baldwin campaign manager Scott Spector called the office opening "the first of many major investments we plan to make in Milwaukee to engage, organize and turn out voters in every community here."
He said Milwaukee was "a top priority for us." The Democrat Party of Wisconsin also has 94 field teams across the state to reach voters.
Led by Gov. Scott Walker, who faces re-election, Republicans are also bolstering their turnout efforts. The GOP has 10 field offices open statewide in Eau Claire, Fitchburg, Green Bay, Hudson, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Waukesha and Wausau.
