Governor amends special session call, adds jobs provisions
Gov. Jim Justice added several bills Friday to his call for a special legislative session that are designed to streamline hiring for state transportation positions and ensure the jobs go to West Virginians.
Though he said last week he would call a special session to do as much, the legislation included in the original call Thursday did not include those bills.
According to the amended call, the Legislature will consider a bill allowing certain tax information to be shared with designated employees of the Commissioner of Highways; a bill implementing special hiring procedures for positions with the Division of Highways and the Tax Commissioner; and a bill amending the West Virginia Jobs Act.
The Legislature is scheduled to convene at noon Monday.
Along with the bills added Friday, lawmakers will consider legislation designed to exempt military pensions from state income taxes and expand state tax credits for rehabilitating historic buildings.
