Construction to begin on safety improvements to busy SnoCo road
EVERETT Construction crews were set to begin work on Tuesday that will add safety improvements to 84th Street NE, a busy road in unincorporated Snohomish County.
Workers will add new speed limit signs, warning signs and street name signs along the road, which runs between Highway 9 in Marysville and Highway 92 in Granite Falls. They will also add new rumble strips and reduce the width of the roads lanes.
The speed limit on the 4-mile corridor will also drop from 50 mph to 40 mph.
About 14,000 daily trips take place along the 84th Street corridor between Marysville and Granite Falls, according to a Snohomish County public works press release. More than half of the traffic collisions that occur along the road are near intersections and driveways. About a third of those are caused by speeding or following too closely, according to the county.
