Deputies end search for missing Bothell hiker after remains found near Darrington

DARRINGTON, Wash. — Deputies have ended their search for a missing 34-year-old Bothell man after human remains were located on Mount Pugh, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Tuesday afternoon that the multi-day search had ended after the man was “located deceased,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.

Alex Keen was reported missing Sunday after he failed to show up for work. Deputies said he had been hiking alone near Mount Pugh, outside Darrington.

During the course of the three-day search, deputies coordinating with mountain rescue units and sheriff’s office helicopters located personal hiking equipment at the top of a steep ravine.

I climbed that 46 years ago. It's not a difficult hike but I didn't do it solo. Condolences to his family. One needs to be careful in the high country.
