Seattle nonprofit plans new Georgetown arts and music venue

With an eye toward the next 25 years, The Vera Project will open a new music, arts and community space in the Georgetown neighborhood early next year.

The all-ages music, arts and community nonprofit says it has obtained an affordable, 20-year lease with build-out capabilities to host a variety of events. The new venue will have a capacity of up to 300 people and will launch with what the 25-year-old organization calls a “full slate of community-curated programming focused on celebrating local subculture and uplifting up-and-coming artists.”

The new venue at 6250 Stanley Ave. S. will be “democratically named” by its youth membership sometime this summer. Vera describes the space as a mix between a “DIY music venue and black box theater.”

Property owner One Step Beyond LLC, associated with a member of the punk rock band The Drowns, acquired the 13,044-square-foot industrial building for $3.78 million in 2022.
