Deception Pass Foundation seeks Adopt-A-Trail volunteers
EVERETT — If you’re looking for a way to get outside and give back to the community, the Deception Pass Park Foundation is accepting volunteers for this year’s Adopt-A-Trail program.
Adopt-A-Trail volunteers assist the limited park staff with maintaining its 35 miles of trails spanning Whidbey and Fildalgo Island.
“Our Adopt-A-Trail program is a great way for volunteers to get out on their favorite trails and do the hands-on work to maintain the park,” said Ty Mechling, vice president of the Deception Pass Park Foundation and Adopt-A-Trail program coordinator, in a press release. “Park visitors already do an awesome job of picking up litter, but we’re in the middle of storm season, and it’s a lot of work for park staff to keep all of our trails clear.”
The park is especially looking for people to adopt the Deception Pass Bridge area to assist with painting over graffiti on the historic bridge, the press release said Wednesday.
