Public Disclosure Commission considers penalizing Let's Go Washington for violating the Fair Campaign Practices Act
Washington States equivalent of the Federal Elections Commission met today in special session to discuss complaints filed against Jim Walsh and Brian Heywoods right wing Lets Go Washington political committee filed last year by its progressive counterpart, Defend Washington. After hearing from staff and a lawyer for Lets Go Washington, the Commission went into executive session to deliberate off-camera. The Commission indicated it will not announce a decision on its next steps for at least a few days.
Defend Washington, to which NPI belongs, says Heywood and Walshs group has been arrogantly violating Washington States public disclosure laws since Heywood opened his checkbook to force statewide votes on an array of initiatives that threaten the states progress on improving education, climate, health, and social justice.
