Bonds, levy failing in initial Whatcom County ballot counts

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two bond issues and a fire district property tax levy are struggling following an initial count of ballots from Tuesday’s primary.

Preliminary results point to the Lynden School District bond failing for a second time.

Currently, 52% of district voters are rejecting the measure that would fund a new Lynden High School. The bond that would fund a new station for Fire Protection District 1 is failing at 50%.

District 1 serves Everson, Nooksack, Deming and the Nooksack Indian Tribe. Both of these bond measures require a 60% majority to pass.
