Damaged Mukilteo-Clinton ferry could shake up holiday travel

MUKILTEO — A ferry damaged by a crab pot line could tangle holiday travel on the Mukilteo-Clinton route if it doesn’t get repaired by Sunday.

Washington State Ferries issued an alert Wednesday afternoon about the possible effects on the already rocky ferry shuffle.

The 144-car Suquamish was damaged by the line several weeks ago. It was scheduled to replace the 90-car Sealth, which has been serving the two-boat route for the past month with the 144-car Tokitae.

Now, the Tokitae has to go to the shop Sunday for federally mandated scheduled maintenance, and the Suquamish is still undergoing repairs.
