Regional Homelessness Authority set to replace interim CEO

L. Darrell Powell is expected to become the second interim CEO of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) in nine months.

Pending approval by the authority's governing committee, Powell will join KCRHA on Feb. 14, replacing outgoing interim CEO Helen Howell, while the authority continues its national search for a permanent CEO.

“L. Darrell Powell brings keen financial experience, a stabilizing hand and strategic organizational leadership that will help skillfully guide the KCRHA team through this time of continued transition,” said Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell in a news release.

The authority's founding CEO Marc Dones resigned last June, amid controversy over a multibillion-dollar five-year plan to dramatically reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness.
