Besides the total loss of the building, local crab fisherman lost a huge number of their crab pots and the gear for setting them out. The crab season has been delayed, and the pots were stacked on the dock next to the building. The reports that I read said that some people were trying to save some of the pots by pushing them off of the jetty into the water, but the heat from the fire was too intense. A local news organization, The Chinook Observer has video and articles up about the fire. The last report showed the Fire Department backing there vehicles up the narrow road, and the building could be heard collapsing into the bay. Very very sad and a huge loss to the fishing community.
