Everett Transit looking into impact of Proterra bankruptcy

EVERETT — Everett Transit’s fleet of 42 electric and diesel buses includes nine electric buses made by Proterra, a California-based firm that filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.

It’s not clear how the company’s financial reorganization will affect the city-owned transit company.

Everett Transit officials said they only became aware of the company’s bankruptcy filing on Tuesday, and they are now looking into how it might affect the Proterra buses they operate.

Proterra said it will continue to operate as usual while it attempts to strengthen its financial position, the company said in a statement late Monday.
