EV brand Rivian to open pop-up showroom at University Village

A third electric vehicle showroom is coming to Seattle's University Village.

Amazon-backed Rivian Automotive Inc., which makes electric vans, trucks and SUVs, is set to open a pop-up retail location in the former Amazon Books space at 2623 NE University Village St.

The showroom is expected to open in late summer and operate through early 2024, Susie Plummer, the shopping center's general manager, told the Business Journal.

The company, which was founded in 2009, struck a deal with Amazon in 2019 to sell 100,000 custom delivery vans to the tech giant by 2030. Irvine, California-based Rivian also has a direct-to-consumer operation, selling electric-powered trucks and SUVs that start at around $70,000.

2. I live about a mile from the gigantic Rivian plant in Bloomington, Il. There are hundreds of

their pickups in town and a huge lot of the Amazon vans parked, waiting to be shipped.
