New data shows strong grape harvest for Washington wineries

New data shows Washington’s wine supply is about to grow. 2022 was a great year for the grape harvest.

According to the Washington State Wine Commission’s annual report, 240,000 tons of wine grapes were harvested, which is a 34% increase from 2021.

Cabernet Sauvignon was at the top with 67,015 tons and 28% of total production. Chardonnay was second at 39,450 tons and 16% of the total. Cabernet Sauvignon increased by 32% and Chardonnay increased by 54%.

The Washington Wine Commission said this was due to a combination of the lighter 2021 harvest and the heavier 2022 crop.
