Flying Heritage Museum 'returning soon' under new owner, name

EVERETT — The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor museum hadn’t tweeted since August when it announced that Walmart heir Steuart Walton had bought the collection.

Then on Monday, the museum’s Twitter account sprang to life and tweeted that Flying Heritage would be “returning soon.”

“Aircraft, armored vehicles, artifacts, and new exhibits are ready to open and ready to inspire!” the tweet promised.

A similar message appears on the museum’s Facebook page and website with the added note: “Stay tuned for more information on opening.”

That's good to hear. I was fearing that the whole collection would be moved to Arkansas.

I live a couple miles from Paine Field and try to visit the Museum at least once a year.

I grew up fascinated by 1930s and 1940s aircraft. This museum has most WW2 aircraft, both allies and Axis.

They have other cool stuff as well: WW2 tanks, a German V-2 rocket, a Vietnam era F-105 to name a few. They even cut a tank in half so you can see how unpleasant for the crew it is inside of one.

Most of the planes can fly and the tanks can crush cars and boats as well. When I was a kid I had a bedroom full of model WW2 airplanes. When Paul Allen became an adult, he had a room full of real WW2 airplanes.
