USPS Hiring New Carriers In 6 Puget Sound Cities To Improve Service
KIRKLAND, WA The United States Postal Service is looking to immediately hire permanent, full-time employees in a half-dozen Puget Sound cities as part of an effort to stabilize its workforce and ensure more consistent service.
Earlier this month, The Seattle Times reported that staffing challenges at the USPS have impacted deliveries across the region, including around Seattle, Vashon Island and Maple Valley. According to the Times, the Postal Service is aiming to fill up to 1,000 roles in Washington over the next few months.
The Postal Service on Wednesday announced immediate openings for career carriers in the greater Seattle area, offering direct hires for the first time in at least a decade. Career employees are eligible for full benefits on the first day of work, and base hourly pay starts at $22.18.
New hires are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and eligible to contribute to retirement plans and enroll in federal health benefits and life insurance programs. Immediate job openings are posted in Seattle, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, Bainbridge Island and Everett.
