New remote-work database ranks Seattle in top 5 most flexible metros

An inaugural report designed to illuminate trends in remote and hybrid work practices has ranked Washington as the third-most flexible state in the nation. Additionally, it put Seattle in the top 10 most flexible metropolitan areas.

Seattle ranked as the No. 4 most flexible city, behind Portland; Boulder, Colorado; and Austin, Texas.

With policies about remote and hybrid work models varying widely across U.S. companies, Scoop Technologies co-founder Rob Sadow sought to bring transparency to the issue, as well as offer hard data to an ongoing societal debate about whether flexible work models are here to stay.

"While there was a lot of media attention every time a really large company like Starbucks or Disney would change their policy, for most companies it was really hard to find that information," Sadow said. "It led us down this path to actually start to collect this information at scale and shine a light on companies' flexibility and office requirements."
