Arrest Made in Aggressive Cyclist Case

Arlington County police have arrested a man they say is the cyclist behind a series of “trail rage” incidents on local trails.

On Friday, ACPD issued a community warning about a middle-aged man who had aggressively cursed at, mooned and in some cases struck pedestrians, in at least five separate incidents along trails in Arlington. Police say they received “numerous tips” over the weekend, which led them to identify a suspect.

“On the evening of Sunday, September 6, police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and took him into custody without incident,” police said in a press release today. “David Marlowe, 55, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with Robbery, Assault and Battery (x3), Indecent Exposure (x5) and Felony Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility on no bond.”

Marlowe is accused of striking several people in fits of rage, attempting to steal one victim’s cell phone, and exposing his buttocks on numerous occasions. The marijuana charge against him was not further explained in the press release.

I remember reading in Mad magazine as a kid that it makes you hallucinate. Yeah that must be it.

2. We have these assholes in our state too They use multi use trails

instead of staying on bike only trails and then bully bipeds using it for various activity
Besides foul language there is physical abuse
The skater I saw intentionally wiped out by one, hassling those with strollers, all on multi use trails
It was just a couple of weeks ago I went out to a county preserve to meet a friend early in the morning for a walk
Creep rides by ,we are on the side so we can see approach, and even with all the bike courtesy and being on the correct side he yells at us EVERYBODY HAS TO COME OUT EARLY THIS MORNING TO GET IN THE WAY grr
I yelled back You are out too!
A nice walk in the woods
But too bad there was a nasty bike bully
Glad they caught this one in VA sounds dangerous
Maybe needs to smoke Marijuana before his ride not after & chill

3. We run into a few assholes on the trail mainly young

riders that think they are Lance Armstrong. Instead of ringing a bell or saying passing on the left they just fly by at 20 MPH. A few of us old folks were riding the other day two people were riding side by side carrying on a conversation and this asshole tried to go between them and crashed. Luckily all three didn't crash. All he had to do is say passing and slow a little. One day one those guys went right through two women and four kids walking on the trail.

I guess these types of assholes come in all ages

4. I predict another problem, many people have electric

bikes now. It won't be long before they are getting electric bikes that go 30 or 40 MPH, someone will have to screw it up
for everyone.
