9 Candidates Vie For Seats On Alexandria School Board In November General Election
ALEXANDRIA, VA The Alexandria School Board race appears to be uncontested, as nine candidates are running for the nine seats in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election.
The Alexandria School Board race features three candidates in each of three districts: School Board Districts A, B and C. There was no primary election for the school board, where candidates run as non-partisan. Voters will cast a ballot for up to three candidates in their assigned school board district.
School Board District A covers neighborhoods like Old Town, Del Ray, Potomac Yard and Arlandria. In School Board District A, current Chair Michelle Rief is seeking election. Tim Beaty, who won a special election to fill a seat vacated by Willie Bailey, is seeking a new term. Newcomer Ryan Reyna is the third candidate.
School Board District B is focused on central Alexandria and parts of the West End, while School Board District covers parts of the West End. School Board District B's candidates include incumbents Ashley Simpson Baird and Kelly Carmichael Booz and newcomer Alexander Crider Scioscia.
