Chalk messages adorn concrete barriers outside Judy Lowe Park, which is near the home of Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance in Del Ray (staff photo by James Cullum)

After concrete barriers were erected to keep locals out of a Del Ray park adjacent to Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance’s home, the barriers became covered with chalk graffiti.

Now, Axios reported those messages were painted over.

The barricades mostly had pro-Kamala Harris messages — generally to be expected in the heavily Democratic Alexandria — but they were at least predominately light messages like “#NotGoingBack” and “Harris 24”

There is no confirmation on who painted over the chalk messages, but Mayor Justin Wilson told Axios the barricades are rented and managed by the Secret Service while the Secret Service and the company that owns the barriers both referred questions from Washingtonian to each other.

Axios got the story from the "Washingtonian." Andrew Beaujon lives in the neighborhood.

A little park closed off by the US Secret Service continues to make news.

A painter on Tuesday covered up messages people wrote in chalk on the barriers the US Secret Service placed around a small park adjacent to JD Vance’s house in Alexandria. Cops looked on while the painter worked. The park, which features a tot playground and a labyrinth, has become an unlikely nexus of national and local news in recent weeks. The feds closed it off in late August, then announced it would be open on some days. It’s closed Tuesday. Over the weekend, someone left a box of chalk atop the barriers, and passersby applied messages like “Harris 24,” “Not Going Back,” and “Love Everyone.”

The locals are PO’ed about it. It’s a very Lib/Dem voting area.
