State election officials are working with Virginia State Police to identify voters whose registration was canceled in error and begin the process of having those people immediately reinstated, Andrea Gaines, a spokesperson for the Department of Elections, told VPM News Tuesday.
The Richmond news outlet reported the problem appears to stem from recent changes the agency has made in an attempt to remove people from the rolls who had their voting rights restored by a governor but went on to be convicted of a new felony. . . .

(18,284 posts)...maybe the state police, or the FBI, should be working on investigating WHO ATTEMPTED TO DENY VOTERS THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE!
Sorry for the allcaps, but this sh!t is way too common and needs to be stopped immediately. And the only way to stop it seems to be to put those who mess around with American's Right to Vote in frikkin prison. EVEN if they claim it was a 'mistake' (after conviction in a court of law, of course).
Just pile them all up in prison.

I do agree that the police departments shouldn't be actively working to classify and purge people from the voter roles.
