The big stuff, I know how I'll vote on that. School board and city council, not so much.

I think they close at 5:00. I can check.

Thanks.

The board and supervisor positions here are sometimes difficult to get any significant information on the candidates.

So many Virginians are voting early, the election day may be easy.

I spent the morning reading up on the local positions. I marked up the voter's guide section of the newspaper and off I went.

I went down to City Hall, one of two polling places open yesterday. I got in line at 3:05. The line snaked around itself with a few bends. I finished voting and left the building at 4:22.

Everyone was patient. I couldn't get a reading on the line, i.e., were they more likely to vote for McAuliffe or for Youngkin.

One candidate for city council used to be Jesse Helms' chief of staff. Oddly, he made the most sense of any candidate for city council. I still had to withhold my vote from him.

One candidate for school board was an anti-vaxxer, the whole nine yards. The others I had to read up on, like the city council candidates.

Bold Vision - Back to Basics

Choices for Children and Families

My name is Deborah Ash.

I am a candidate for the Alexandria School Board District B.

I moved to Alexandria from Arlington in 2017 and have a teenager presently attending Alexandria City High School.

The year 2020 has been a life changer for all of us but most of all for our children and their education. We can not go back to business as usual because the school system was failing our children even before the pandemic.

If I am elected to the School Board District B, I will support the following agendas:

5-Day School Week

Continuing Advanced Courses for Gifted and Talented Students

Funding School Resouce Officers in the Schools for Child Safety

Mentoring

Expanding Vocational and Career Tracks as Alternatives to College Preparation

Teaching the 1776 Project and "the Three R's"

I will oppose:

Critical Race Theory

Indoctrination and Social Engineering being set forth

The 1619 Project

Reducing Math and Science Standards

Requiring Mandatory Experimental Vaccines for Children and Face Masks

I am passionate about seeing parents take back control of their children's education. With God's help, we will work together to get it right.

At the Albemarle registrar when I early voted the precautions seemed very good. However, there was no line.
