Stern won't back Scott, Ehlers misses unity rally

Vermont's primary elections are over, but both the Democratic and Republican parties have defeated candidates still holding out.

Gov. Phil Scott's primary challenger is still fighting.

Keith Stern, the Springfield grocer who argued the governor was not sufficiently conservative on gun rights and government spending, has yet to conceded Tuesday's Republican primary nor has he endorsed Scott.

"I'm considering all options except endorsing the governor," Stern said in a telephone interview Thursday.

Stern is considering throwing his support behind Joseph Barney, an independent candidate for governor who shares some of Stern's concerns about the state's new gun restrictions.
