Recount set for Montpelier city council election; candidates separated by 4 votes

Montpelier officials will conduct a recount of the Town Meeting ballots cast in the race for District 2 City Council.

Preliminary results show Pelin Kohn with just a 4-vote lead over challenger Mark Gwinn. Kohn is seeking re-election to a second term.

The recount is scheduled for 1p.m. Sunday at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center.

In other City Council races, two newcomers ran unopposed after incumbents declined to seek re-election: Ben Doyle will replace Lauren Hierl in District 1; and Jim Sheridan was take over the District 3 seat that was held by Tim Henry.
