Governor candidates debate tonight

All five major-party candidates for Vermont governor are expected to take the stage tonight at the Paramount Theatre.

Democrats Matt Dunne, Peter Galbraith and Sue Minter are vying for their party’s nomination. Similarly, Lt. Gov. Phil Scott is squaring off against Bruce Lisman for the Republican nomination. They are scheduled to meet in the forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The debate, sponsored by the Vermont Council on Rural Development, VT PBS and Northfield Savings Bank, is expected to focus on “Vermont’s Economic Future in a Time of Climate Change.”

Anyone interested can attend the event in Rutland, or watch live on Vermont PBS TV or online. The debate will be moderated by Chris Graff.
