Washington Co. election officials make changes to how ballots are processed

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) — Election officials in Washington County are making changes to how ballots are processed for November’s upcoming General Election.

These changes include keeping ballots mailed locally within the county, Washington County Clerk Ryan Sullivan explained.

Mail sent from Washington County is processed in Las Vegas. Sullivan said this has been the case since 2012.

“I’ve worked with our local postmasters from both Hurricane and St. George. They’re going above and beyond for us. Anything that is mailed here locally, they’re taking those and hand stamping those with a hand postal mark and they’re not even sending them to the Las Vegas processing center,” Sullivan said.
