A recently filed Texas bill aims to rename Interstate 35 in Travis County to the "President Donald J. Trump Highway."
The bill, introduced by Texas Rep. Joanne Shofner, proposes a new name for I-35, "indicating the designation as the President Donald J. Trump Highway." The legislation also aims to construct markers at each end of the interstate representing the designation.
If passed, the bill would enlist local federal departments to "design and construct markers indicating the designation as the President Donald J. Trump Highway and any other
appropriate information; and erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
appropriate intermediate sites along the highway."
Upon the bill's announcement, social media users took to online platforms to mock the designation and express criticisms of the 47th President.
"Everyone hates I-35 anyway," said one Facebook user.
"How about just calling it Insurrection Way or Traitor Trail?" wrote another.

(45,887 posts)We’ve been avoiding it for decades after one miserable Thanksgiving trip from the North Texas area to the Central Texas area. After miles of nearly stand-still traffic, we made it to the front and discovered the wreck wasn’t even on our southbound side. Our backup was all rubbernecking. Then we got to see miles of northbound traffic at a standstill.
For the return trip home, we studied a map and figured out that I45 could work just as well for our destinations. A few miles further maybe, but so much more pleasant. We never used I35 again.

(48 posts)I know the dreaded traffic on I-35 well. A normally 3.5 hour trip could morph on a dime into a 7-9 hour slog, especially at holidays or other breaks. Worst route in the country, bar none! I used to say a prayer to the Patron Saint of Traffic every time I started that trip.

(2,524 posts)Now that’s catchy! Short, sweet and easy to remember.
Maybe a country song could be made from this. Rep. Shofner is just another of a long line of Trump sycophants eager to brown nose him to try to curry favor.
“Headin’ south on the Traitor Trail,
winds are blowing and they’re callin’ for hail.
Gotta see her in Austin, I just can’t fail.
So I’m risking my neck on the Traitor Trail.”
