In late August, with a hotly contested presidential election less than three months away, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott boasted that the state had removed more than 1 million ineligible voters from its rolls, including more than 6,500 noncitizens.
The Republican governor said the Texas secretary of states office was turning over nearly 2,000 of those characterized as noncitizens to Attorney General Ken Paxton for investigation because records showed they had a voting history.
Illegal voting in Texas will never be tolerated, Abbott said in a press release.
The former registered voters whom Abbott called noncitizens, and the other people removed from the rolls since September 2021, were taken off through a routine practice local election officials conduct that includes culling the names of people who have moved or died. Election experts have urged caution in using the numbers to make definitive statements about registered noncitizens.

(13,655 posts)He probably removed legal voters/ citizens that were immigrants in their history. The Purge behavior runs thru him.

(1,064 posts)Basically purge all naturalized citizens' voter registrations on the basis that there is some record of them being a non-citizen at one time in the past.

(72,535 posts)1 million people removed from voter rolls of which 6,500 were non citizens?
You can not be registered to vote unless you are a U.S. citizen. And of the million
people removed from the Texas voting rolls how many were likely Blue Voters?
BTW:
Republicans do not win elections in most cases by having good ideas that people like but
but by cheating via stopping people from voting. See Florida 2000 and DBT, William Rhenquists
blocking people from registering in Arizona in the 1960s, moving 250,000 blacks in Cuyahoga
County to provisional ballots in 2004, see Georgia and Florida in 2022, and so on.
Hell the U.S. House is under Republican control because of gerrymandering which is way
of not letting American Citizens who are perfectly legal voters from voting in the House
races that they really should.
