Canyon ISD to hold a tax rate election for additional state money to the district

CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - An election to raise taxes for Canyon ISD could bring almost $3 million yearly to the school district.

In 2024, Canyon ISD’s tax rate was $0.93. The proposed 2025 tax rate would add $0.03 to the district’s tax rate.

In Canyon ISD there would be a $56 rise in taxes for the average home with the homestead exemption.

“The average home value in the school district is $304,000 and if that residence has $100,000 homestead exemption that was approved by the state then the taxable value is $204,000. And so, what it amounts to is $56 a year or about $4.71 per month on the average homeowner,” said Dr. Darryl Flusche, superintendent at Canyon ISD.
