In brief: A tropical system is bringing heavy rains and lashing winds to the Texas coast this morning, but most of this activity is south of Houston. We’ll see the potential for widespread showers on Wednesday before lesser rain chances through the weekend. Houston’s skies will turn partly sunny starting Thursday, with lots of sunshine on Saturday and Sunday.

3. "Lashing" winds is an exageration. The winds experienced so far are...

nothing special for the central Texas coast. I've never lived anywhere with such regular high winds. The Corpus Christi marina is full of sailboats the almost never go out because it's almost ALWAYS TOO WINDY! So far (mid-day Saturday) the rains haven't been a problem. Our drought ravaged ground is soaking it up like a sponge, and our reservoirs were approaching 20% levels. Glad it's missing the upper coast, as they've had way more than their fair share.
