The Abbott-Trump Doctrine: Redefining border security at what cost?
https://www.lonestarleft.com/p/is-abbotts-building-a-military-base
Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott announced he would build a base camp in Eagle Pass to facilitate up to 1,800 - 2,300 National Guards. Abbott said its meant to improve the National Guards quality of life and save Texas money.
Texas taxpayers have spent over $12 billion on Abbotts border stunts in the last three years, none of which have impacted migration flow.
Yet, the border lies have continued. Republicans call immigration an invasion, and they call every immigrant illegal. Then, they take money that comes from the pockets of hard-working Texans to throw away on political stunts that fuel extremists and have cost people their lives.
Texans should be angry that our tax dollars are being thrown away like this. Texans should be angry that our government is working for the TV cameras instead of the people. And Texans should be angry at this latest stunt, as this base could quickly rack up another several hundred million more dollars at taxpayer expense.
Now, Texans should be concerned about the implications of Abbotts new military base in conjunction with Trumps new mass deportation plans.

(40,132 posts)Why is Abbot letting them in the country? The wall is complete according to Trump.
You know, the wall that American taxpayers paid many, many billion$ to keep them out.
MTG whined that we do not know where all the immigrants went. Ask Abbott where he bussed them to and their names.
That will tell us how much the Republicans actually care.

(62,083 posts)... they are so over confident. I hope it encourages bunches of them to forget about voting.

(7,561 posts)Said the facility would be 80 acres in size. That is not a dimension that most people can relate to. 80 acres translates into a parcel of land that is 1 1/2 city blocks by 3 city blocks. In that area, they will house 1,800 troops. That population density would be 8 times that or translate into 14,400 people per square mile.
I don't think they have thought this through very well.
