The Congressional Hispanic Caucus bylaws explicitly block Republicans from joining due to major policy differences between members in the past.by Matthew Choi, Texas Tribune
WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. Mayra Flores cried foul Wednesday after getting rejected from the most influential Hispanic group of lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Flores, R-Los Indios, tweeted Wednesday that shed been denied membership in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, decrying the decision as evidence of bias towards conservative Latinas that dont fit their narrative or ideology.
As the first Mexican-born American Congresswoman, I thought the Hispanic Caucus would be open in working together, Flores said in the tweet expressing her disappointment.
The caucus is entirely made up of Democrats including five from Texas. It was originally founded in 1976 as a bipartisan working group of Hispanic lawmakers in both chambers of Congress. But in the 1990s, differences over the U.S.s Cuba policy led to a fissure between the groups Republican and Democratic members. The Republicans led by Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, R-Florida, left to form the similarly named Congressional Hispanic Conference in 2003.

It's a stunt by Flores to get some press that Democrats are discriminating.

The Koch bros invest heavily with them too.
I've had three repuke Latino congressmen: Henry Bonilla, Francisco Canseco and now Tony Gonzales. Congressional District 23
All of them are disgusting

Also, the immigrants are mostly indigenous whereas most latinos in the US are Mexicans from northern Mexico. Many indigenous don't speak Spanish, so they don't see them as being in the same group. Many of immigrants from Guatemala don't even have Hispanic surnames. It's no different than expecting white people to support white people.
I wonder if Republicans wonder, "How can any white person be a Democrat?"
