Beto O'Rourke stops in Bryan as supporters help him campaign

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Beto O’Rourke and supporters in 27 communities around Texas including Bryan-College Station spent Sunday door-knocking for his campaign.

According to O’Rourke, the group that gathered at Sue Haswell Park before heading out to speak with community members was the largest group they saw all weekend.

“Folks may think this is a red part of the state, it may be more accurately described as a non-voting part of the state and we’re going to go out there and meet those voters. Again, we don’t care what party they belong to, we just want to focus on what we can do together for the state of Texas,” O’Rourke said.

O’Rourke appeared at the event in Bryan and spoke to the group about his platform and hopes for Texas.

Kit Rodriguez, a 19-year-old from College Station, said this was her first political event and was attending with her mom.

The article states that over 90 similar door-knocking events occurred this weekend. Did anybody knock on your door?

And look how many people showed up to participate even though the temperature was nearly 100 degrees today.

This site is supposed to support Democrats, your remark discourages Democrats from voting by conceding the election before it occurs.

4. With all due respect,I don't believe that, TexasTowelie. Why would one give voting for a Democrat...

due to a comment deemed as discouraging? I really don't believe O'Rourke will win. Abbott will fall ass-backwards into a win...or whatever someone in a wheelchair does.

5. I regret that you have so little faith in Beto.

All of us know the difficulty of electing Democrats in Texas for past three decades. However, I'm certainly not ready to throw in the towelie yet.

As for your final sentence, I've fallen ass-backwards conking my head on a concrete curb and with my legs dangling in the air. Another time I got into an argument with my brother and he pushed me over so that my good leg was pinned in the doorway and I couldn't move. I'm coming up on two years in a wheelchair and it doesn't look like I'll be getting a prosthetic limb through Medicaid. So pardon me if I don't find comments about wheelchairs to be amusing. Yeah, Abbott sucks, but that would be true whether or not he was disabled.

I'm not trying to assuage you. We are on the same team , so I very really am sorry I was flip. I don't like Abbott but I am sorry he's gone through such difficulty. I'm sorry. My regret is in good faith. I'll be better responding to you in the future. It's sometimes good being made aware of flaws.

The one thing that I've learned since having my leg amputated is how clueless some people are.

This past Friday I was going to go grocery shopping, but I was feeling somewhat lazy so I waited until the last bus run. When I went outside I found the gate to the apartment complex was blocked by the rear end of a pickup truck belonging to the new neighbor. I tried to roll through the grass and gulley to get around, but I ended up missing the bus. After I dragged my wheelchair back up the steps I saw that the new neighbor had left a load of laundry outside so I knocked on his door, introduced myself, and let him know what occurred.

I can't count the number of times where someone has left something in the middle of a sidewalk or on a wheelchair ramp and I've either had to move it myself (I removed a large dolly at my apartment complex and hurt myself in the process) or go into a store and ask an employee to move a large stocking cart sitting smack dab in the middle of a fairly wide sidewalk.

I've also had to say "Look Up" to people who nearly walk into me because they can't look up from their cell phones.

My only opportunity to get attention occurs when I'm on a long straight-away in the grocery store. I can get this wheelchair moving at 12-15 mph so the people walking 3 or 4 abreast better watch out. Ramming speed ahead!

9. Not likely I will get a door knock, considering I already have yard signs

for Beto and Mike Collier in the yard.

Of course I could get a canvasser for a different Democratic candidate inquiring if I need that candidate's yaRd sign.

The answer is yes of course
