Related: About this forum'Thinking about staying': Kyle Rittenhouse shows interest in attending Texas A&M University
Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted from multiple charges in connection to killing two men and wounding another during street protests in Wisconsin in 2020, could become an Aggie. The 18-year-old hinted at the possibility of attending Texas A&M University during a visit.
"ASU has been fun, but becoming an Aggie might be better," Rittenhouse wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday, April 28.
In a later Instagram post on Saturday, April 30, Rittenhouse wrote he's "thinking about staying" in Texas. He posted a photo of him in the "Howdy Chair."
Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz with an AR-style semi-automatic rifle during a tumultuous night of protests in the summer of 2020. In his closely watched trial, Rittenhouse pleaded self-defense in the deadly shootings.

I hope that Kyle decides not to attend Texas A&M. I live four miles away from the campus and I really want to be able to go outside without wondering if I'll be chosen by Kyle for target practice.

(22,722 posts)That punk has a lot of nerve thinking he can get into A&M. I can't imagine his application would get any further than the shredder in the admissions office. A school like A & M is very wrapped up in its image and no school is prouder of itself!
Is he in the top 10% of his class? doubt it
Does he have a lot of money?
I know a number of very capable students who missed that top 10% cutoff but were able to go to one of the satellite campuses. They did well there and easily transferred to the main campus.
Guess he thinks that his gun skills are an automatic qualification.

(7,891 posts)dont they demand applicants have academic accomplishments, SAT scores, and a variety of social accomplishments and recommendations - just to be accepted???? That, Id bet - this loser DOESNT have!

(116,819 posts)and that the students couldn't meet at testing facilities. I suspect that the social accomplishments have taken less importance because of COVID. That pretty much leaves the only criteria tied to class ranking and/or GPA. I believe that Rittenhouse is completing a semester at Arizona State University (it may be online), so if he manages to earn a 3.0 GPA that could get him across the threshold to meet Texas A&M's requirements.

(22,722 posts)The academic and admission standards are very high.
I seriously doubt any Aggie alum would want him on that campus.

(116,819 posts)to matriculate. However, he shouldn't receive a scholarship and he should be put at the bottom of the housing list.
Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't "recognized" by the city council and police association of College Station. I'm going to feel vulnerable when I wheel myself along Texas Avenue when I have to go out for groceries and other errands if he moves here.
Feel like taking on a personal injury case for a mental anguish claim? It won't take any effort from me to pull off "deeply disturbed."
