Former Bristol doctor sentenced on federal tax charges

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.—A former Twin City doctor received probation and house arrest Wednesday in a federal case involving tax-related charges.

Jeffery Paul Ginther previously pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Greeneville, Tennessee, to willful failure to account for and pay over withholding and Social Security taxes for his employees between 2011 and 2013, according to court records.

On Wednesday, Ginther, who surrendered his license in 2014, received four years of probation, six months of home detention with electronic monitoring and was ordered to pay $132,893 in restitution.

Ginther had established a medical practice in Bristol, Tennessee, in the 1980s and continued to operate the practice through Dec. 31, 2013.
