I wonder if people outside Tenn. grew up watching Porter,it was one my favorite shows when TV was going from B&W to color.They sparkle!

(2,365 posts)Lived in the boonies of south central MO, and we only got one channel--KYTV in Springfield. Watched Porter and Norma Jean and later Dolly on a b&w Zenith. And of course, Porter was from West Plains MO. I never did see the show in color.

(9,767 posts)He wore the patent outfit, and Loretta Lynn and Vince Gill were there as well. Real deal country, which seems to be a rarity any more.

(15,333 posts)in those days. They also used to do commercials for "Breeze" brand detergent, which I just realized I could still recite from memory. The big selling point was that each box also contained a free towel. When I first moved to Nashville, I saw Porter a couple of times, once in a recording studio and another time on the street near the Pancake Pantry.
