Haslam health plan Insure Tennessee is dead.

Tennessee will not expand health benefits to hundreds of thousands of low-income residents, with state senators rebuking Gov. Bill Haslam's controversial health care proposal.

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee voted against passing Haslam's Insure Tennessee. Only four of the 11 committee members voted in favor of the plan.

The vote comes minutes after House Speaker Beth Harwell said she doesn't think there are enough votes in the House to pass the plan.

"I don't think I have the support," Harwell told reporters as she walked away from the House chamber Wednesday.

Food tax here is 9.75% (WORSE than metro NYC!!!)
.......I want to know what this state is doing with all that money whilst they build more prisons, want laws to encourage "homeskoolin'" and keep the population as slaves.

I am leaving this horrible place after losing money on a house (bad market here still, other than Nashville).

There are some good Cancer centers in East Tenn. Any good dr who cares about his patients knows that patients need help paying bills, many are part timers, no health insurance, with families to feed and average income under 30k for a family of three.

The far right doesn't care about its own citizens, especially in states like this where they are disempowered, have no legal rights in the workplace, and are trapped in poverty.

This state is a disgrace, I am glad I will be leaving soon.
