'Tis the season: State Christmas tree and mansion tours

The state is getting ready to install its Christmas tree at the state Capitol. The more than 30-foot Norway spruce is being donated by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Washer of Murfreesboro.

The tree is scheduled to be harvested on Wednesday and installed at the Capitol on Monday. The tree-lighting ceremony is Nov. 30.

Additional trees inside the Capitol will celebrate Tennessee’s 225 years of statehood with decorations from all 95 counties and ornaments featuring the tristar emblem and the festive Tennessee State Government logo.

Gov. Bill Lee and first lady Maria Lee are also hosting tours of the governor’s mansion starting on Dec. 10. Details follow:
