Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn was one of six senators to vote against the coronavirus relief bill passed Monday night.
In a statement, she says she couldnt get on board with everything in the $2.3 trillion spending plan.
I have serious concerns with provisions buried in the 5,593 page bill, such as expanded visas, Pell grants for prisoners, and households with illegal aliens receiving economic impact payments, her statement said.
She accuses Democrats of using the pandemic to push a socialistic agenda.
Tennessees outgoing senator, Lamar Alexander, did not immediately release a statement on his vote in favor. But the legislative package included parts of his proposal to stop surprise medical billing.

(116,799 posts)That moves her up to 2024. She'll be completing her first term as a senator, but she will be forced to decide whether to run for senator again or to run for president.

Then we will have a Special Election, which Beto would have an excellent chance of winning.

(116,799 posts)Cruz can remain a senator while running for higher office. However, he can't run for both senator and president at the same time. Cruz can run for senator and vice-president at the same time due to the Bentsen rule in 1988.
