The yard sign planted in front of Tom Rouses home in Hendersonville makes his views on the upcoming presidential election relatively clear, even as it doesnt contain a candidates name: Any Functioning Adult 2020.
Its enough to grab your attention if youre driving by, and Rouse is happy to talk about it.
The sign sort of started out as a joke, but surprisingly multiple neighbors come by and say I like your sign, Rouse says from behind a mask.
Rouse is a middle-aged white man, and like many of us, hes working from home these days. To the left of the beautiful homes front stoop is a small koi pond. Some of the fish shimmering beneath the surface are 16 years old, Rouse says theyve been swimming in circles since George W. Bush was seeking reelection.

(18,282 posts)...at least twice a year. I even went to some of the Democrat meetings there..and I still donate to Sumner County Dems. What a tough job they have.
I live in Wash State where its easy to be a Dem.

(5,267 posts)there are fewer support signs for dump. Far less. One local political candidate for office switched from a D to R and is holding steady, probably will win. Republicans control the narrative here, but the support this year is far less astounding.
On the other hand, there are more Dem lawn signs. More Biden than the dump in my neighborhood which is close to the University of TN. But, you have overwhelming red support voters. This state will more than likely go for the straight Republican ticket. The many counties in rural areas are strong Repugs. proud boys reign on the KY-TN border. I wish Memphis had more pull with their rep who surprisingly won on a shoestring budget of 5K. Marquita Bradshaw was a surprise win over a well-funded politician. I voted for Ms. Bradshaw. Would love to see her win in a coattail victory.
If we can get more new Dem voters to the polls anything can happen. Just like the surprise win for Ms. Bradshaw.
