hi,,new to group..

not sure why it took me so long to join the TN group here..guess I'm finally getting used to DU and how it works! Ive been around DU a while, live in Bristol, Have a absolutely drop dead gorgeous 32 yo challenge daughter and wife with Copd. I am retired now. Worked my last 9 year sas upper mgmnt in the intellectually challenged adult field. I was over supported living homes in that field. ( my largest workload was 13 home, 3 individuals per home, 13 home managers and approx 75-100 staff, I was on call 24/7) That tidbit is not to blow my horn,,but to show what I believed in,fought for,DID in my real life, and quite frankly it almost killed me, I ended up in ICU right before I retired and told the Director my truths.
So I feel introduced, I have my strong opinions on DIDD in Tn and of course the politics of Tn. I look forward to some intelligent conversations with fellow Tennesseans.

with Tess and Mrs K in house, even after I yawn now( ok, a bit of sarcasm) I am safe typing on keyboard, as I put my kb in dishwasher every night to make sure it's clean,, all Republicans should try this.btw, it REALLY DOES WORK . I may of even had a glass of wine before I joined group to kill any airborne BS that may escape from my mouth. and if rubbing alcohol works on skin, why not take care of your insides too?

I am sheltered in for this upcoming disaster. (Just found a couple of stored paint masks I use along with my gloves on my limited express shopping runs and mail pick up.)
located down the 81 hill from you, close to Knoxville.

my immediate neighbors carry on like they usually do. to the left of me parties with friends in the middle of the night
and the ones down the hill scream and yell outside, and drive up and down. repeating that routine endlessly.

Everyone has acreage but screaming and partying echoes through the holler and down hills.

I am home on a company leave but working online until this blows over, hopefully all people on this board will survive.

and happy you went into detail about your work. My gorgeous special-needs daughter is 33 and sharing a home with two other women and full-time staff about 20 minutes from our house. You guys are doing god's work, and while I'm sorry it took a health scare to get you retired, I'm grateful beyond expression for the work that you and your cohort do.

My daughter is safe for now, but we are missing her like crazy--her dad makes Sunday breakfast at their house and every other Sunday they all, including staff of course, come here for dinner. I pick her up on Tuesdays from her day program at 3 p.m. and we hang out watching tv and eating frozen pizza.

I too have copd (and bronchiectasis) so we've had next-to-no contact. My husband makes Sunday breakfast here and drops it off; I make every other Sunday dinner, and he drops it off. We've tried face time with little success, and the one time staff pulled into our driveway with the ladies, we had a hell of a time keeping Sara in the van--it was a pretty bad idea, but staff wanted to surprise me.

the families I LOVED dealing with,,involved,,helping, doing. People like you,,I think I may have had 2 families like you, made my work life so much easier. and I want to give you a HUGE TY, for including the staff. you just made their day that much easier also. Funny you brought up Sara,, I had a Sara under me,,one of my favorite people,, enough to I visited that home ever Sat morning and Sara and I would share a doughnut, that she could cut, and tell me which "half" was mine.. and then I would pull out my measuring tape and tell her, but your half is 1/16th inch bigger than mine,,,,,,, and we smiled... those were good times of my work,,ty for reminding me
