Beavers Supporter Kay White Going to Run for Governor Herself
There's a new candidate entering the governor's race, seeking to challenge state Sen. Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) on the far right side of next year's Republican primary. There's just one twist — it's the woman who first encouraged Beavers to run for governor, Johnson City Realtor and tea party activist Kay White.
Back in March, White was one of the first people to publicly start drumming up support for a Beavers race, posting on Facebook that in a Gov. Beavers, "we would have our own Margaret Thatcher and Jan Brewer wrapped in one!" But by the middle of June, something had gone wrong, as a series of Facebook posts show:
