COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
Westboro Baptist Church, the church known for protesting at soldier's funerals, will be in the Midlands for the funerals of two fallen service members.
According to the Topeka, Kansas-based church's website, WBC members will be at the memorials for 1st Lt. Ryan Rawl and Spc. John D. Meador II.
Rawl and Meador were among three South Carolina National Guardsmen killed in a suicide bomb attack last week in Afghanistan.

Does anyone know if there will be a wall to obscure the families view?

(53,661 posts)Show up at the funeral to support the grieving families of these soldiers. Do something good, not protest other people, show some love. I think that will help the families more than anything. This is just the latest installment of their money grubbing circus act. They should be shunned by everyone in the town.

(15,099 posts)On the WIS FB page a lot of people are talking smack. Any violence will feed into westboro's hands. I am debating on whether or not I should go. If I go my son's friend will want to tag along and I don't think that is a good idea. He has PTSD and is liable to lose it.

(1,233 posts)These people are really despicable. The best approach: lots of people with really BIG, supportive signs. Just stand right in front of them, and cover up all of that hate.
These people have the right idea:

I saw a sign once that said "God Hates Figs Mark 11:12-14" Look it up!
