Howard Rich still at it

For several years, NY realty tycoon Howard Rich has been trying to destroy the public school system by getting weak state governments to pass "school choice" laws. So far SC has managed to resist the temptation, but there's another bill in the General Assembly this year.

State newspaper article

The "advocacy group" mentioned in the article, South Carolinians for Responsible Government, is part of Rich's apparatus. All the funding goes through convoluted channels, so nobody really knows how much money Rich is spending here. My question is, if his cause is so noble, why is he doing everything in the shadows?

In 2007, Rich said that South Carolina was a testing ground.

I think he likes to do this "in the shadows" because he wants people to think that they are acting and thinking on their own behalf. No one, even sheep, likes to think that they are being manipulated.

Horrible.

that everyone says it has no chance of moving in the Senate before the term expires. It was another waste-of-time symbolic vote by the GOP to appease the knuckle draggers.
