Who is the Democratic candidate? If Haley and Irving split the gop vote 70-30, are there enough Democratic votes to pull off a victory?

Governor - Vincent Sheheen
Lieutenant Governor - Bakari Sellers

I think there are enough people who will vote for Sheheen, if they vote. The South Carolina Democrat Party is very poor at get out the vote efforts, and Haley is very good at voter suppression.

and reading up a little on Irving, I doubt he will pull anywhere close to 20% of the gop vote, let alone 30+%.

is the Dem nominee. He ran against her in the last election and lost by 4%. He is a nice guy, sometimes too nice. This Erving guy is not afraid to go after her for her failures, of which there are many. Kids dying in DCYS care, The hacking of the state IRS where personal taxpayer info was stolen, the roads are in horrible shape. Like erving said, every agency she touched she messed up.

People love her because she loves guns, anti Obama, anti union. The unemployment rate is 5.3%. But they ignore the median income is falling since she was elected.

I saw a fairly recent poll that had him behind by only 3%. Haley isn't quite as loved hear as one might think, and Irwin could really screw things up for her reelection. It's possible Sheheen could pull it off by himself, but this guy can only help him. Let's hope he stays in the race.

I hope Irving does split the recon vote and that the Democratic candidate is strong enough to pull out a victory. What background does the Democratic candidate have?
