The Socialist Student Union at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. set a new low for gauche and tasteless behavior this week by covering the green lawn outside the campus center with wire coat hangers to mock a prior event at the school sponsored by students opposed to abortion.
Back in January, on National Sanctity of Human Life Day, Winthrops College Republicans had covered the same plot of land with a vast multitude of flags representing abortions, reports Campus Reform.
Naturally, a bunch of those flags representing aborted babies were either stolen or crushed under unidentified feet.
The Socialist Student Unions display of wire hangers was designed to promote an event called Abortion 360, which occurred on Tuesday at Winthrop. The Abortion 360 event was so named in response to an anti-abortion film shown by College Republicans named Abortion 180.

Moved to the South Carolina Group and deleted from the Texas Group. I actually intended to put it General Discussion, but I apparently wasn't paying attention.

I guess it's who you are that matters.
Seven billion and counting. Aren't there enough people on the planet, without having to force more onto those who don't want more?

(15,111 posts)the group is not glorifying abortion. How many times, even here on DU has it been said that laws the republicans are trying to enact would force women back into back ally abortions and using coat hangers. The counter- protest is a reality that women will face.
The group that originally reported (campus reform) this, does not have an agenda...nope not at all. They are funded by the Leadership Institute.
Some graduates of the Leadership institute include:
Grover Norquist,
Ralph Reed,
Jeff Gannon,
Senator Mitch McConnell,
Congressman Mike Pence,
James O'Keefe, and seven new members of the 112th Congress.
Among their speakers: Kenneth Cuccinelli, Steve Scalise US Representative (LA-1)
on and on with their incestuous conservative far right connections. Hmmm. I would take the article with a shot of tequila along with the grain of salt.

I would like to see the stand your ground clause expanded for rape victims that are harassed and threatened for going to get an abortion. In other words, deadly force by the rape victim could be authorized if she is being harassed and threatened by protestors calling her a murderer, and could be considered threats on her life with no recourse for the harasser or threatener.
